Popping your creative valve

7th October 2015

Einstein once said ‘Creativity is contagious. Pass it on’ and we tend to agree.

Music plays a big part in the creative process here at My Local Broker, so in the interest of passing it on here’s a list of tracks that we are currently enjoying.

We hope they inspire you to create as much us they inspired us.

'High Voltage' by Eagles of Death Metal

I’m quite an organised person so when I need that kickstart, I need a song like this to disrupt that inner OCD.

“High Voltage” says it itself, that wild, erratic high tempo feel that's perfect to break through those creative blocks designers may experience.

Whether I’m designing for a project or just thinking of nicknames for staff in the office this song is definitely worth a listen for "OCDs" like myself.

‘I Don’t Know’ by Nick Hakim

Currently listening to a bloke called Nick Hakim, who I would pitch as a male Nora Jones but stripped back.

I really like his subtle RnB, soul and jazz sensibilities - It reminds me of Brooklyn, a hub of arts and cool which in turns inspires me to be cre8ive, < see!

Do your earholes a solid and get onto this one.

‘Can’t keep checking my phone’ by Unknown Mortal Orchestra

From one of my favourite albums of the year, Can’t keep checking my phone features manic percussion, disco throwback bass and some 707’s for good measure.

If I need to get into the coding zone, this track helps me get the job done.

"Beautiful Emilie" by Keziah Jones

One of my favourite songs from a Nigerian Prince (yes, a real one) who makes pretty good music.

A fusion of blues, funk and soul with traditional influence. His slapping guitar technique, similar to a bass player makes it perfect to start the day on the right tempo.
